Richardson Grove Court Hearing August 20

EPIC and our allies are back in court to challenge Caltrans' "addendum" to the Final Environmental Impact Report for the proposed Richardson Grove "Improvement" Project. Caltrans once again failed to seriously consider the likely impacts of widening Highway 101 on adjacent old-growth redwoods, including ignoring the only published study on impacts from road construction on old-growth redwoods.

Caltrans is attempting to use obtuse procedural issues to prevent the court from ever hearing about its analytical failures. Thankfully, we have the best attorneys—Ross Middlemiss and Stuart Gross—and we believe we will prevail in court.

But we need your support to show the judge that Humboldt County demands that Caltrans not wantonly place irreplaceable ancient trees at risk. If you can, join us next Tuesday, August 20 at 8:45am at the courthouse to lend your support!
