EPIC Communications Coordinator Transition: Farewell to Abigail Lowell & Welcome Cecilia Rodriguez

Abigail Lowell

Abigail here! It is with a truly bittersweet heart that I announce my departure from EPIC for a new role with Save the Redwoods League working on the Redwoods Rising project in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties. I am excited for this new opportunity, but I am sad to leave and incredibly grateful to the EPIC staff, who are a truly kind, intelligent, hilarious, hardworking, and inspiring group of people who I will be forever thankful to know and work with. The EPIC community is fantastic, and I have every hope and intention of staying involved. Thank you all so much!

I am also so excited to pass on the EPIC Communications role to my respected colleague and good friend Cecilia Rodriguez, who will bear the torch beautifully starting in February. Contact Cecilia at cecilia@wildcalifornia.org.

Cecilia (she/they) graduated from California Polytechnic Humboldt with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication in 2023. While completing her undergraduate degree, she served as the President of the Intercollegiate Debate Team. She is now pursuing a Master’s degree in Environment and Community at Humboldt, where she is exploring environmental conflict resolution and grant writing for social and environmental justice.

Cecilia’s professional journey spans diverse roles that reflect her commitment to sustainability, equity, and community connection. While pursuing her education, she worked as a specialty barista, honing in her passion for sustainable and delicious coffee. Since then she has served as a College and Career Advisor with TRIO Talent Search, a Wilderness Ranger for the U.S. Forest Service, a Director with Avid 4 Adventure, and a Youth and Volunteer Outreach Coordinator with the Bureau of Land Management.

Outside of work, Cecilia enjoys cooking, dancing, hiking, foraging or cuddling with her senior German Shepherd, Bruce.
